On Friday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir addressed the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) conference and stated that negative propaganda and social media trolls cannot distract Pakistan from working towards its development and prosperity. Munir has been cautioning of social media campaigns against the armed forces for the past several months, especially after PTI social media activists launched a vitriolic campaign against the armed forces following the unceremonious sacking of Imran Khan as the Prime Minister and his subsequent imprisonment in various criminal cases.

The Green Pakistan Initiative, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the army chief in July last year, aims to bring billions of dollars of investment to Pakistan’s agriculture sector within the next four to five years. The initiative is expected to be the second green revolution and pave the way for prosperity and progress in the country.

The COAS expressed that the government anticipates an average investment of 30 to 50 billion dollars in Pakistan over the next three to four years under the GPI. The initiative aims to enhance productivity and transform barren land into fertile ground, which will significantly boost Pakistan’s revenues.

The COAS assured that with the support of the people, all efforts of those who distract and obstruct Pakistan’s development journey will fail. He stated that the armed forces of the country, with the support of the nation, would fail all the inimical forces bent on impeding Pakistan’s development and prosperity. He also stressed that complete independence without economic stability is not possible in today’s era, and no instability would be tolerated in Pakistan’s journey of prosperity and development. He urged everyone to reject negative forces and focus on Pakistan’s journey of development and stability.
