General Qamar Javed Bajwa has resigned as the chief of the army
and General Asim Munir has taken over his post. Pakistan is unique
in many respects in the world and this uniqueness is also part of the
fact that the change of the army chief is made the biggest problem of
the country. Now, not only within Pakistan, foreign countries also see
this change with a keen eye. Above all, India is deeply concerned
about the impact of this change and the future prospects and
concerns. The reason for this anxiety is their inner fear and disease.
In the mirror of General Bajwa’s departure, his defense concept is
being seen, named as “Bajwa Doctrine”. It was actually a revival of
General Pervez Musharraf’s “Pakistan First” slogan and policy. It was
under the Bajwa doctrine that Pakistan tried to move towards trade
with India, but this process did not succeed. At the time of the
departure of General Bajwa, the economic condition of Pakistan is
very bad and deplorable, which is a proof that Kashmir has also gone
out of hand and the economic condition is getting worse and worse.
In this way, Bajwa Doctrine could not lead to any improvement in the
economic condition of Pakistan. Seven months ago, when a political
crisis intensified in Pakistan, a well-known Indian journalist, Praveen
Swamy, revealed in an article in “The Print” that after the Pulwama
incident, General Bajwa reined in the jihadists. And after that he had
a back-channel contact with the Indian National Security Adviser Ajit
Doval in which it was decided that the tension between the two
countries should not escalate to the point of war. The incident of
Pulwama and the Indian decision on August 5, 2019 in Kashmir were
mutually connected because the song released by the Indian Army to
raise the morale of the soldiers on the second day of the Pulwama
attack contained, “Tor Do Dhara 70 Ko”, this shows that India wanted
to use this incident as a pretext to attack the identity of Kashmir. This
is what happened later. India’s revenge did not cool down by
destroying a crow and a few trees at Balakot and it continued to
advance towards the original objective which was August 5.
Pakistan’s response to India’s decision was extremely disappointing
and ineffective. India itself did not expect such a cool reaction from
Pakistan. The internal chargesheet against Imran Khan that came out
in private gatherings included his tough policy towards India and the
point of stopping trade and severing ties altogether. Now Indians are
also saying that General Bajwa was in favor of opening trade with
India. After General Asim Munir became the Army Chief, the biggest
concern of the Indians is what will happen to the Bajwa Doctrine.
They are even saying that the Pulwama incident took place when
General Asim Munir was the head of the ISI. The fear inside India is
evident from their screams. However, like General Musharraf’s weak
policy, Bajwa’s doctrine will continue to be discussed in many
contexts and among them the negative reference of the weak
response of August 5 will be at the top.
