China assures military support for Pakistan

China reiterated its firm support for Pakistan’s safeguarding of national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as its expanded role in international and regional affairs, according to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. These sentiments were conveyed during the fifth round of the Foreign Minister-Level China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired by Wang and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Beijing.

Both sides pledged to bolster pragmatic cooperation across various sectors. Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, underscored the enduring strategic partnership between China and Pakistan. He praised Pakistan’s unwavering adherence to the one-China principle and its consistent support for China’s core interests.

Expressing confidence in Pakistan’s new government, Wang anticipated a phase of political cohesion, social stability, manageable security, and sustainable development. He affirmed China’s commitment to strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with Pakistan, emphasizing mutual support and cooperation to elevate bilateral relations.

China expressed readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in implementing key consensus reached by their leaders, particularly in advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to a more advanced stage. Wang also urged Pakistan to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in the country.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Dar reiterated the significance of the Pakistan-China friendship in Pakistan’s foreign policy. He affirmed Pakistan’s steadfast adherence to the one-China principle and its unwavering support for China’s core interests. Dar pledged Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing practical bilateral cooperation across various sectors and ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals and facilities in Pakistan.

Dar highlighted the regional peace and security challenges posed by India’s unlawful occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, acknowledging China’s principled stance on the issue. Both sides reaffirmed their determination to deepen bilateral ties through ongoing high-level exchanges and consultative mechanisms.

Additionally, they reaffirmed their dedication to advancing the second phase of CPEC, focusing on five key corridors: growth, innovation, openness, livelihood, and green development.
