Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong elaborated on the concept of “new quality productive forces” and its impact on the transformative collaboration between China and Pakistan.
Ambassador Zaidong explained that this concept, introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping in September 2023, emphasizes the integration of innovation, technology, and industry to promote sustainable development and prosperity.
At its heart, this vision identifies innovation as the driving force for 21st-century progress. President Xi Jinping’s push for the integration of scientific and technological resources aims to leverage advancements in these areas to boost productivity and foster new industries and economic sectors.
“New quality productive forces are characterized by innovation; the key lies in high quality, and the essence is advanced productivity,” stated Ambassador Zaidong.
This approach aligns with China’s commitment to high-quality development, as demonstrated by its robust economy, which surpassed 126 trillion yuan ($17.51 trillion) in GDP in 2023, with a growth rate of 5.2%, ranking among the world’s major economies.
Looking ahead to 2024, which marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Zaidong outlined China’s strategic focus. With a target GDP growth rate of around 5%, the emphasis remains on modernizing the industrial sector and advancing new quality productive forces.
Ambassador Zaidong highlighted China’s role as a global economic leader and an agent of positive change. The anticipated advancements will not only strengthen China’s economy but also create opportunities for international cooperation and shared prosperity, with Pakistan identified as “our iron-clad friend.”
For Pakistan, this partnership has significant implications. Ambassador Jiang highlighted the country’s strategic importance, demographic advantages, and abundant natural resources, emphasizing its development potential. Aligning Pakistan’s “5Es” framework with China’s vision can unlock its full potential and pave the way for self-reliance and sustainable growth.
Central to the China-Pakistan partnership is the successful implementation of CPEC Phase One, which has delivered benefits in renewable energy, information technology, and biotechnology. As CPEC enters Phase Two, both nations are committed to enhancing the corridor, leveraging Pakistan’s strengths for self-reliance and sustainable growth.
Ambassador Zaidong acknowledged Pakistan’s ongoing reforms and the orderly formation of a new government, signalling a renewed focus on national development. China reaffirmed its unwavering support for Pakistan’s reform agenda, pledging to implement key agreements reached by the leadership of both countries.
In conclusion, Ambassador Zaidong expressed China’s readiness to work with Pakistan to implement important agreements, promote the integration of CPEC’s “Five Corridors” and Pakistan’s “5Es” framework, foster a closer China-Pakistan community, and open a future of peace, development, and win-win cooperation.
