Former Defence Minister unravels General Bajwa’s Faizabad sit-in connection

In an interview, former Defence Minister Khawaja Asif disclosed that the former Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, was implicated in the distribution of funds to individuals involved in the Faizabad sit-in. Asif stated that during a Security Committee meeting, General Bajwa acknowledged providing financial assistance to the participants of the sit-in. The funds were reportedly allocated to facilitate the return of those who lacked the financial means to travel home. Asif also mentioned that General Bajwa personally informed him about the disbursement of the funds, emphasizing the military’s control over all aspects of the sit-in. According to Asif, if political leaders do not take decisive action, the status quo that has persisted for the past 75 years will continue.
