Former Pakistani navy chief arrested

By admin Oct21,2022

The authorities in the United States have detained the former head of the Pakistani navy, Admiral Mansoor ul Haq.

He’s wanted by the military authorities in Pakistan ater fleeing charges of corruption when he was head of the navy between 1995 and 1997.

Admiral Mansoor is being investigated about his role in the buying of three French submarines — a deal which was worth millions of dollars.

He’s denied allegations of corruption.

Correspondents say the arrest of Admiral Mansoor will give credibility to the Pakistani military’s anti-corruption campaign: many politicians have accused the army of only targeting politicians and ignoring corruption committed by the military.
