Malik Dawood Khan, a co-founder of the Lashkar-e-Jabbar terrorist group, was killed in the North Waziristan region of Pakistan. Khan, known for his close association with India’s most sought-after terrorist mastermind, Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, Maulana Masood Azhar, is said to have fallen victim to a deliberate assault carried out by masked individuals in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan on October 21.
Early this month, Shahid Latif, a key aide to the Jaish-e-Muhammed (JEM), chief Maulana Masood Azhar was gunned down along with his guard in a firing raid by two armed motorcyclists during Fajar (morning) prayer inside a mosque in village Mandaiki Goraya, Daska, district Sialkot, Punjab. In September this year, a leader of LeT, Maulana Zia-ur-Rahman, was shot in Gulshan-i-Jauhar, Karachi.
This event is part of a larger pattern of violence involving the targeted elimination of both terrorists and political figures in Pakistan. Local authorities have also discovered the body of an unidentified person in the Mir Ali area, displaying clear signs of having been subjected to torture. According to reports from Dawn, a total of 50 political activists, young individuals, and community leaders have lost their lives in 41 carefully orchestrated attacks during the course of 2023.
