Maulana Raheem Ullah Tariq, a close friend of wanted terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar, was shot dead by unidentified men in Karachi. Tariq was going to attend a religious gathering when he was attacked. Police believe it was a case of target killing.
This comes less than a week after the killing of Akram Khan Ghazi, a senior commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist organization. Ghazi was gunned down in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Ghazi was reportedly a recruiter for the LeT and responsible for radicalizing terrorists who infiltrated the Kashmir Valley.
Another LeT terrorist, Khwaja Shahid, was found beheaded near the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Shahid was one of the masterminds of the 2018 Sunjuwan terrorist attack on an Indian Army camp.
Rephrased version:
On February 10, 2018, a group of heavily armed terrorists attacked the Sunjuwan camp of the 36th Brigade of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry. Indian security forces later killed three of the terrorists, who were dressed in army uniforms and armed with AK-56 rifles, under-barrel grenade launchers, and a large quantity of ammunition, including grenades.
These killings follow a pattern of mysterious killings of terrorists by unidentified individuals in Pakistan in recent weeks.
The killings are a reminder of the ongoing threat of terrorism in Pakistan and the region.
