NDU team in Rome for dialogue

Italy Friendship Forum – Civil Society Dialogue 4.0 at the Pakistani Embassy in Rome today, as reported by the embassy. The group, consisting of 19 members and led by Air Vice Marshal Imran Saif, is on a week-long visit, engaging with the Italian government, defence companies, and institutions. The forum, titled “Nuclear Deterrence in Today’s Security Paradigm: South Asia, a Nuclear Flashpoint,” was inaugurated by Pakistan’s former Ambassador to Geneva and current Advisor to the Strategic Plans Division, Zamir Akram.

Among the speakers was Emanuele Panero from the Center for International Studies (Cesi). The NDU delegation also includes five senior military officers from Saudi Arabia, and the military attaché of the Saudi embassy attended as a special guest. The event featured a question-and-answer session, fostering a meaningful exchange of perspectives between the guests and attendees. The forum underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Italy to promoting global peace and security, both bilaterally and through joint efforts within the United Nations. Ambassador Ali Javed thanked the guests and participants for their contributions to the session’s success and emphasized the value of the Pakistan-Italy Friendship Forum in deepening understanding and cooperation through civil society interactions.
