Nigerian and Pakistani Navies Strengthen Ties Through Virtual Lecture and Exchange Programmes

Nigeria and Pakistan showcased their strong naval partnership through a virtual lecture and ongoing exchange programs.

On March 27, 2024, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Chief of the Naval Staff of Nigeria, delivered a lecture titled “Challenges and Opportunities for the Nigerian Navy in the Twenty-First Century” to participants in the 53rd Pakistan Navy Staff Course. This virtual session, conducted via Zoom, fostered insightful discussions on maritime challenges. Pakistani Navy personnel actively engaged, seeking further details on the Nigerian Navy’s recent achievements.

This event served not only to share knowledge but also to solidify the bond between the two nations’ navies. The collaboration extends beyond virtual lectures:

Study Tours: In February 2024, Pakistani Navy War College participants visited key Nigerian naval installations, including the Western Naval Command Headquarters and Lagos-area bases.
Directing Staff Exchanges: Regular exchange programs ensure a continuous flow of ideas. Recent examples include:

-Commodore CU Yahaya’s visit to the Pakistan Navy War College for a two-week exchange in 2021.
-Commander Bashir Shazad’s reciprocal visit to the Nigerian Naval War College in September 2022.
– Commodore SM Tasiu’s two-week exchange program at the Pakistan Navy War College in January 2024.
