The Pakistan Air Force is boosting its combat power with a new squadron of JF-17 Block III fighter jets. This advanced fleet will be based in Karachi and stationed at PAF Base Masroor. This marks the continuation of a larger modernization effort, replacing older Mirage aircraft with JF-17s and J-10Cs.
Previously known as the No. 8 “Haiders” Squadron, this unit flew Mirage VPA2/3 jets since 1983. They were temporarily retired in January 2023 as part of the Air Force’s modernization program. Now, they’re returning to active duty with the next-generation JF-17s.
This move reflects Pakistan’s focus on strengthening its air defenses and keeping pace with evolving technological advancements in the region.
