RAWALPINDI, Pakistan – The army chiefs of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on met in Rawalpindi on November 27 and discussed various areas of mutual interest. Specifically, they addressed cooperation in defense, security, military training, regional situation, and the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Commander of the Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF) Lt Gen Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mutair paid a call on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Syed Asim Munir at the Army General Headquarters (GHQ).
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Army’s role in fighting the menace of terrorism and paid tributes to the sacrifices made in bringing peace to the region.
The COAS thanked the dignitary, saying: “Pakistan deeply values its strategic and brotherly ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
The meeting comes as ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are at an all-time high. The two countries have a long history of cooperation in defense, security, and economic matters.
The defense chiefs discussed the ongoing security situation in the region, including the challenges posed by terrorism and extremism. They also discussed the importance of defense cooperation in maintaining regional stability.
In addition, the two chiefs discussed ways to enhance military training and cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed the possibility of joint exercises and training programs.
The meeting concluded with the two chiefs agreeing to continue to work closely together to promote peace and stability in the region.
