RAWALPINDI: Force Development and Source Management Director from Turkish General Staff, Maj. Gen Oguz Serhad Habib Oglu Friday called on Defence Secretary Alam Khattak here and expressed the need to further enhance cooperation in defence.
“Both countries are cooperating in the field of air, sea and land and we must further diversify the scope of this cooperation,” he added. The Turkish delegation comprised Capt. Halil KEPECIOGLU- Armed Forces and Naval Attache, Col Ahsen SUREN- Army Attache and Air Cdre Khalid Mehmood-Special Advisor to Chief of Air Staff.
Pakistan and Turkey have historical and brotherly relations and both sides wish to translate the relations to help each other in the field of defence, trade, economy and further the ties.
During the meeting held in the Ministry of Defence, defence secretary remarked, “Our resolve of a peaceful and stable region remains undeterred despite difficulties. Our armed forces are fighting the menace with full determination. Achieving peace in the region is of paramount importance”. Pakistan and Turkey have been working in defence, aircraft and shipbuilding.
Maj Gen Oguz Serhad Habib Oglu said, “Both Pakistan and Turkey should explore new ways of improving cooperation in defence. “Pakistan like Turkey is a future energy corridor and has an important place in the region,” the defence secretary added. Both the sides expressed satisfaction over successfully holding of 10th HLMDG in Pakistan in October last and hoped that 11th HLMDG will be held in Ankara.
