Pakistani and Turkish Special Forces Collaborate in ‘AYYILDIZ-2023’ Exercise

In a display of bilateral solidarity and operational expertise, Pakistan Navy Special Service Group (SSG(N)) and Turkish Su Alti Taarruz (SAT) participated in a joint Special Operations Forces (SOF) Exercise ‘AYYILDIZ-2023’ held in Istanbul, Turkey. This exclusive exercise was designed to foster professional exchange and enhance interoperability between the elite forces of both nations.

The primary objectives of Exercise ‘AYYILDIZ-2023’ were to:

Build Synergy: Strengthen the partnership between Pakistani and Turkish SOF units, fostering a cohesive approach to combat operations.

Strengthen Military Relationships: Solidify the existing military ties between Pakistan and Turkey, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.

Enhance Interoperability: Develop seamless coordination and compatibility between the two SOF units, ensuring effective joint operations.

The exercise focused on four key areas:

Anti-Terrorism Operations: Sharpening skills and strategies for combating terrorism, including hostage rescue and neutralization of terrorist threats.

Sniper Firing: Enhancing marksmanship and precision in sniper operations, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in critical situations.

Frogman Operations: Practicing underwater tactics and techniques, including reconnaissance, sabotage, and counter-diver operations.

Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS): Refining procedures for boarding and inspecting vessels suspected of illegal activities, ensuring maritime security.

Exercise ‘AYYILDIZ-2023’ concluded with a demonstration of coordinated VBSS operations involving ships, helicopters, and fast speed boats, showcasing the synergy and interoperability achieved by the participating SOF units. The successful completion of the exercise reaffirms the strong military bonds between Pakistan and Turkey and their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining regional stability.
