General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Army Chief, charmed the Pakistani community in Washington at a recent embassy dinner. He met with a diverse group of influential individuals, from investors and doctors to engineers and economists, all leaders within the American Pakistani community. The event, attended by over 70 people, saw open dialogue and interaction, with some attendees travelling long distances to participate.

Munir encouraged investment in Pakistan through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), assuring complete security for investors. He emphasized his commitment to character and integrity, stating that while competence and courage are important, character is paramount. Attendees praised his heartfelt address and apparent care for Pakistan.

The dinner included prominent figures like entrepreneur Tanweer Ahmed, who received praise for his $9 million donation to NUST, and Dr. Arshad Rehan, president of the leading Pakistani physician association, APPNA. Notably, despite an open forum, no questions arose regarding Imran Khan’s imprisonment or alleged human rights issues. Local PTI leadership also stayed away, per instructions from Pakistan to avoid protest during the visit.

Prior to the dinner, General Munir met key US officials, including Secretary of State Blinken, Secretary of Defense Austin, and military leaders. His visit aims to strengthen Pakistan-US ties and explore potential collaboration on regional security concerns.
