Kharian Garrison, Pakistan: The 7th Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Exercise 2024 culminated in a closing ceremony on February 29, with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir as the chief guest.
The 60-hour exercise, held in the semi-mountainous terrain of Punjab from February 25-27, aimed to enhance combat skills and foster collaboration among participating nations. It featured a rigorous “patrolling exercise” designed to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas and experiences.
Seven teams from the Pakistan Army and 15 from friendly countries, including Bahrain, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Morocco, Qatar, USA, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Turkey. The following countries attended the event as military observers: Azerbaijan, China, Germany, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar.
Addressing the participants, General Asim Munir emphasised the importance of “mutual learning” during such exercises, highlighting PATS as a platform that effectively combines professional military skills and tactical knowledge. He also commended the participating soldiers for displaying “character, courage, and competence” – qualities vital in the face of evolving warfare. He further appreciated the professionalism, physical and mental endurance, and high morale displayed throughout the exercise.
