PN has new Vice Chief

Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami has been appointed as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Pakistan Navy. His distinguished service career include wide range of Command & Staff appointments. Presently, Vice Admiral Bilgrami is serving as Chief of Staff at NHQ. The VCNS has been awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz(M).

Admiral Bilgrami’s distinguished career in the Pakistan Navy began with his commissioning as a Lieutenant in 1989. He was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour upon graduating from the Naval Academy and promptly assigned to the operations branch.

Seeking to further enhance his skills and knowledge, he pursued military education at the Britannia Royal Naval College and earned a Master’s degree in International Security and Strategy from King’s College London. He subsequently graduated from prestigious institutions like the Pakistan Naval War College, the National Defence University, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff College, and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the UK.

Admiral Bilgrami’s extensive command experience includes serving as the Commanding Officer of PNS Khaibar, a vital naval vessel. His staff assignments are equally impressive, holding positions such as Director of the National Defence University in Islamabad, Director of Naval Development Plans and Operations, and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operational Plans). He also served diligently as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Chief Staff Officer to the Commander, Pakistan Fleet and Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff.
