A soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom on Saturday during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district’s Mir Ali area, the military said in a statement.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intense exchange of fire took place between the troops and terrorists during the operation.Own troops effectively engaged terrorists’ location. However, during the operation, Sepoy Shakeel Shafqat (age 21 years, resident of District Khanewal), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat,” it added.
On Thursday, security forces successfully neutralized eight terrorists in two separate Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs). The operations took place in the Jani Khel region of Bannu district and the Datta Khel region of North Waziristan.
In recent months, Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. This increase in violence came after the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan terminated its ceasefire agreement with the government in November of the previous year.
According to a report published in July by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the first half of the current year saw a worrying and consistent escalation in terrorist incidents and suicide attacks. These attacks resulted in the loss of 389 lives across the country.
