Kohat: The quiet of the night was shattered in Kohat district when a group of 12 terrorists ambushed a police checkpoint near the Lachi Toll Plaza on the Indus Highway. In this attack, three police officers – Head Constables Amjad and Junaid, and Constable Waqar – tragically lost their lives, along with civilian toll plaza employee Noor Muhammad. The assailants, armed with grenades and sophisticated weapons, fled the scene after the assault.

Responding swiftly, a large contingent of police arrived at the location, launching a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators. An investigation has been initiated by the Counter-Terrorism Department, and banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, making inflated claims of casualties.

Lakki Marwat: In a separate incident, security forces engaged in a fierce firefight with terrorists in Lakki Marwat district. The operation neutralized two militants – Aftab alias Malang and Masood Shah – who were actively involved in terrorist activities and civilian killings. Two brave soldiers, Sepoy Muhammad Afzal and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain, embraced martyrdom in the exchange of fire. Their sacrifice strengthens the resolve of the security forces to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated.

Political Violence in North Waziristan: Tragic news emerged from North Waziristan district as independent candidate Malik Kaleemullah Dawar and two associates were gunned down in Tapi village. Police are investigating the attack, which occurred while the men were returning from a meeting with local residents.

These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges Pakistan faces in the fight against terrorism and political violence. While security forces remain vigilant and committed to protecting the nation, tragedies like these remind us of the sacrifices made by those who stand guard against these threats.
