Unidentified militants attacked vehicles on the Quetta-Taftan highway, killing eleven people and injuring six others. The incident took place in Nushki district where at least a dozen armed men stopped vehicles near Sultan Chadhai on Friday night.

Shots were fired upon a car that didn’t stop, killing a relative of a local politician and wounding five others. A motorcyclist was also injured. The militants then targeted a passenger bus travelling from Quetta to Taftan, where they abducted nine passengers from Punjab after checking their identification documents. Their bodies were later found shot dead under a nearby bridge.

The militants also fired rockets at an ordnance depot of the Nushki Frontier Corps (FC) militia. However, this did not result in any casualty or damage.

Nushki officials believe the victims were labourers travelling to Taftan for work. Security forces suspect Baloch separatist groups’ involvement and have launched a joint search operation to apprehend the attackers. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the killings, calling them “inhuman and unforgivable.” He vowed to bring those responsible to justice and eliminate the threat of terrorism in the province.
