China’s top political advisor Wang Huning met with Chairman of the Pakistani Senate, Sadiq Sanjrani, in Beijing on October 23, 2023. Wang Huning serves as the chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee. During their meeting, they reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between China and Pakistan, characterizing it as an all-weather strategic cooperative relationship and highlighting the deep friendship between the two nations.
Wang Huning emphasized China’s commitment to further implementing important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries. He expressed China’s readiness to enhance high-level exchanges and strategic communication with Pakistan, foster mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors, and expedite the development of an even closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era. Additionally, Wang highlighted the CPPCC’s willingness to engage in mutual learning with Pakistan regarding governance experience in order to create a conducive environment and foster positive energy for China-Pakistan cooperation.
Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani reciprocated the sentiments, acknowledging the significant benefits that the enduring friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and China have brought to the Pakistani people. He praised China’s role as a major country and pledged Pakistan’s steadfast adherence to the one-China principle. He also expressed Pakistan’s commitment to continued support for each other, further strengthening the traditional friendship between the two nations.
In a related development, China’s special envoy for Afghanistan affairs, Yue Xiaoyong, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, in Beijing. This meeting took place on a previous Thursday and was officially announced by the Chinese foreign ministry on Monday. The discussions likely revolved around matters related to Afghanistan and regional stability, highlighting the ongoing diplomatic engagement between China and Pakistan in addressing regional challenges.
